A little story about the dogs I’ve had in my life.
My first dog was a collie. My family got him when I was 1 and he passed when I was 13. He was a tremendous protector. He kept the snakes out of the yard – we lived on a river out in the sticks – and even saved some people from a house fire! How cool is that?!
My next doggie was Sydney. Well, there were a few strays in between that the parents wouldn’t let me keep. Sydney is best springer spaniel on the planet. My brother named him after one of our granddads, he was supposed to be my brother’s dog. Somewhere along the way Syd ended up liking me better. He and I had a long, wonderful, travel filled life together. Syd has probably been across country more times than most people. He was with me in college, through my marriage, and beyond. When I lost him, my heart was shattered. Ya’ll, I did not take his passing well. So much so that it took me 5 years – to the day turns out – to get my 3rd dog, Seeley.
I got Seeley during the 2010 playoffs. Steelers vs Ravens game, Jan 15. I was working 12-hour shifts and needed a dog that could handle being in the house for that long, so at least 6 months old. He was there with his sister, and I chose to take him first since he was the calmer of the pair and I hadn’t had a dog in 5 years. I called back a couple weeks later to make sure his sister got a good home, and she did. Yay for Palmetto Pets!!! You can see Seeley plastered all over our site and isn’t he photogenic! He has the best timid personality and is a sweetheart. He loves concerts, dogs, anything involving a leash, and cats. In his old age he’s really hating fireworks, firearms, vibrating phones on tv, and apple’s default notification tone.
I’m a lucky girl to have had such great companions.
