In 2010, Seeley, a golden-colored mutt, became a part of my family. On day 1 of our journey together, if dogs were allowed where I was going, he was there. We’ve had the best times together and he makes life sweeter.
In March 2019, my 9-year-old fur buddy was diagnosed with mast cell cancer on one of his hind legs. It DEVASTATED me. There was a threat of more surgery to remove his leg too. I couldn’t imagine how his gentle temperament would allow him to fight through that. I wanted so badly to make all the right decisions for him so, I became his fierce warrior champion. After I cried my eyes out and finished panicking.
First, I found a fantastic vet in Davidson, NC who also practices holistic medicine and we got to work. She prescribed him a system and environment detox. In the beginning, it seemed impossible. The list was long and included: liver cleansing support supplements, blood cleaning supplements, liver & body detox supplements, change in flea/tick meds, removal of toxic indoor and outdoor chemicals. His Vet and I also decided I would cook his food for 6 months to help with the detox. I replaced 100% of his food with home-cooked food made from ingredients I would put in my body.
We got through it, and are still here, together, 3 years later… cancer-free.
My mission now is to share my experience with others. To help owners give their fur buddies the best life possible in ways that reduce guilt and stress for the owners. All dogs deserve to have us be their champions, to be the voice that they can’t be, and owners deserve to live their best life at the same time.
