Every Great Dog Park Starts with Great Humans
At Broken Leash, we see it all—speed demons, social butterflies, wallflowers, and the occasional drama queen. Most pups figure out the vibe fast. It’s usually the humans who need a quick refresher on off-leash etiquette.
A great park day isn’t just about running free—it’s about keeping everyone safe, relaxed, and welcome.
❶ Keep an Eye on Your Dog, Not Your Phone
Dogs read energy faster than you can send a text. Stay present. Step in early if play gets too rough or another dog looks uneasy. Our Rufferees are trained to monitor group play, but nothing replaces an attentive owner.

❷ Know When to Step Out
If your dog seems overwhelmed, barks non-stop, guards toys, or keeps hiding under tables, it’s time for a breather. Our indoor areas and small-dog turf give pups space to reset without missing out on fun. Short breaks prevent big problems.
❸ Respect the Clean Play Rule
We disinfect the turf daily because “safe and sanitary” isn’t optional. Pick up waste immediately and tell staff if you see any accidents that need attention.
Turf means clean paws and clean floors at home—that’s our promise.
❹ Don’t Bring the Wrong Energy
Anxious owner? Your dog feels it. Overconfident? They’ll test it. Dogs mirror us. Take a deep breath, sip your drink, and remember: it’s supposed to be fun.
Broken Leash is a 21+ space built for calm vibes, laughter, and positive play.
Nobody likes the park police or the passive-aggressive whisperer. If you see something unsafe, flag a Rufferee instead of confronting another guest. We handle the rules so everyone can relax and enjoy their evening.

The Bottom Line
Good dogs follow your lead. Great humans set the tone.
At Broken Leash, we’re building a community where safety, respect, and fun go paw in paw.
Bring your best manners—and your pup’s best zoomies—to Charleston’s first dog park and bar, where turf means no mud, no mess, just play.
